Did I miss a memo?

Can someone please explain to me the sudden dissapearance of  "you're" from the English language?  Its place is being filled for the time being by "your," which is unfortunately not quite up to the job.  Release "you're" from whatever dark dungeon it's being held in, and return it to common usage.
